The savings rule
Most savings calculators count every cheaper option as money saved. That overstates what you can really take back, because a cheaper plan usually means losing something. Robbed Score uses one rule:
A saving only counts when you’d keep everything you actually use.
Changes that remove capacity count only once you confirm that capacity is genuinely unused. Changes that remove features or switch tools are shown as your choice — with what you’d give up — and never counted.
How changes are classified
| Possible change | Counted? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Same plan, billed yearly (or monthly) | Automatically | Same plan and features. Note: yearly billing means paying for 12 months up front. |
| Duplicate subscription | Automatically | You’re charged twice for the same thing. Removing one loses nothing. |
| Fewer seats | Once you confirm | Removes capacity. Counts only when you confirm the seats are unused. |
| Cancel a tool you don’t use | Once you confirm | Counts only when you confirm you genuinely don’t use it. |
| Cheaper plan with fewer features | Never | You’d lose something. Shown as a trade-off with what you’d give up. |
| Different tool | Never | A different product is a different set of features. Always your call. |
If the new price isn’t lower than what you pay now, the change is marked “not cheaper” and ignored. If a price is missing, that line is left out of the totals until you add it.
The score
All prices are converted to a monthly amount (yearly prices are divided by 12) and handled in whole cents to avoid rounding drift. Then:
score = round(100 × (1 − counted savings ÷ monthly spend))
A high score means little is being lost — your stack is already lean. A low score means a large share of your spend could be taken back without losing anything you use. Only counted savings affect the score; savings waiting for your confirmation and trade-offs don’t.
| Score | Rank |
|---|---|
| 80–100 | Vault Master |
| 60–79 | Safecracker |
| 40–59 | Street Smart |
| 20–39 | Pickpocketed |
| 0–19 | Easy Target |
Worked example from the demo (fictional tools and prices): monthly spend $184, counted savings $34 (a yearly switch saving $14 and a $20 duplicate). Score = round(100 × (1 − 34 ÷ 184)) = 82, Vault Master. A $20 seat reduction waits for confirmation and a $12 cheaper tier is a trade-off, so neither changes the score.
Evidence labels
Every result says where its prices came from:
- Demo — fictional tools and prices, used only to show how scoring works. Demo results can’t be shared.
- Self-reported — prices you entered. We don’t check them, so share cards say “not verified by FounderHeist”.
- Verified — not used yet. Before we call any price verified, it will link to its public source with the date we checked it, and be re-checked over time.
What’s not included
- Taxes, card fees and currency conversion. Enter prices in the currency you’re billed in.
- Promotional or introductory prices that change after a period.
- Usage-based billing (credits, minutes, API calls). Enter a typical monthly amount if you want to include it.
- Refund rules, notice periods and contract terms — check these with each provider before changing a plan.
